Rummage Sale

Have you heard of our Rummage Sale? It is Sisterhood’s largest annual fundraiser. It benefits our members, as well our neighbors in the Reading community. Gently used clothes and household items are sold at affordable prices, and the money raised is a substantial part of the annual contribution Sisterhood makes to support Oheb Sholom.

For two weeks in the summer, our social hall becomes the receiving room for goods donated by congregants. Volunteers help unload and sort the goods in preparation for the sale.  Baked goods are donated just before the first sale day, and are sold during the event.

The Rummage sale is open to the public, and all of the goods are reasonably priced.  Volunteers run the registers and assist customers with their purchases, as well as keep the display tables tidy so the next set of customers can shop more easily.  After the sale, the remaining goods are packed up and donated to local charities.

There are many ways you can get involved. If you are available to help before, during, or after the sale, please let us know. If you have not been involved in this event in the past, the Rummage sale is a great opportunity to have fun and help at the same time. We look forward to seeing you there!
