Shavuot

shavuot

Shavuot occurs seven weeks after Passover and commemorates the giving of the Torah to the Jewish people by God. At Oheb Sholom, the holiday is marked by a special evening service accompanied by adult education and a treat  of cheesecake, which recognizes the tradition of eating dairy on Shavuot.

The Confirmation Service is held around Shavuot every year.  The service is created and led by the tenth grade students that are eligible to be confirmed.
