Back by popular demand

In response to extraordinary demand at our 2017 festival, this year we’ll be have more food than ever on hand, particularly in our deli area, where many selections sold out early in the day last year.

Favorites include brisket and chicken platters, New York-style deli sandwiches, bagels and smoked fish, falafel and much more. Get there early for a spectacular selection of desserts, including our famous Jewish apple cake, which always sells fast, and our sweet, savory rugelach pastries. Other delicious treats include blintzes (crepes stuffed with sweet cheese); kugel (noodle pudding), knishes (savory dumplings stuffed with potatoes and vegetables) and the ever-popular matzo ball soup.

Tickets for dinner or deli platters are available for $14 at the door or $13 in advance from RCOS members or from the synagogue office, 610-375-6034. Many a la carte items are available as well. Event is cash-only. There will be an ATM.

Entertainment

The Greater Reading Encore Chorale performs at 1 p.m. It has a broad repertoire of selections from musical theater, patriotic music, love songs and sacred pieces representing many faiths.

Education and enrichment

Get a taste of the Jewish religion and its vibrant culture. Tour the sanctuary and check out our displays on holiday celebrations.

An opportunity to give

We encourage those who attend to bring a canned good or other nonperishable food item for us to donate to the Greater Berks Food Bank. Or, toiletry items (disposable razors, tooth brushes, shampoos, etc.) for Opportunity House.  RCOS has been a supporter of these types of causes from its beginning, and we recognize its value to the community now more than ever.
