“You shall teach them (the commandments) to your children.” This quote, found in the Torah and in our Prayer book, commands us to teach our children. Reform Congregation Oheb Sholom values the education of our children. Our school’s goals are to create pride in our heritage and strengthen Jewish identity. We provide our students with a comprehensive Jewish education in accordance with the teachings of Reform Judaism including instruction in the areas of history, liturgy, values, ethics, art, and Hebrew language. We prepare them for life as educated Jews.
We are now beginning the registration process for the 2017-2018 school year. The fee schedule is noted below; the registration form is enclosed. It is always helpful to have registrations returned as soon as possible to assist in preparing for the coming year in regards to books, teachers, classroom assignments, etc. It is very important that a separate registration form is filled out completely for each student who will be attending.
The Religious School budget comprises the largest portion, after staff salaries, of the Synagogue’s annual budget. In spite of tuition collected, it is subsidized heavily by the Synagogue. With that in mind, in an effort to allow for better planning of the upcoming school year, we request a deadline of August 1, 2017 for applications of returning religious school students.
The first day of Sunday School is Sunday, September 10. The first day of Tuesday School is Tuesday, September 12. The hours of Sunday School are 9am – Noon.
